Candice Schutter
Dance Fitness Instructor
Hi, I'm Candice!
Candice Schutter is a group facilitator of nearly two decades who has worked as a teacher, trainer, and educational consultant for a variety of mind-body fitness organizations. She is a Nia Black Belt and former international trainer for HoopGirl, Inc. She taught Zumba for ten years, and was named the 2010 Group Fitness Instructor of the Year by Northwest Personal Training in Portland, Oregon. In addition to teaching dance fitness, Candice is the creator, host, and producer of The Deeper Pulse podcast. She has an BA in Psychology & Human Development as well as an MA in Social Impact. As a former new age fundamentalist ;) and anti-cult activist, she is passionate about autonomy, inclusion, bridging psychosocial divides, and creating community without the culty vibes. Candice is currently at hard work on her first full-length book. Learn more about her work at thedeeperpulse.com.
"Dance doesn't have to be about having all the right moves; it can be an invitation to 'move toward what moves you' without any pressure to perform. Just your body. Just you."

More about me
Why people love my classes.
Fitness ≠ work. In my classes, we keep the focus on physical sensation, great music, honest expression, and the agency to choose what feels best in our bodies in any given moment. Play & freedom to move and exist differently… that’s the real secret sauce.
How I put positivity in motion.
I spent nearly two decades conforming to wellness-world formulas, only to discover that the performance of health wasn’t the same thing as actually having it! So now I create an atmosphere of inclusion by keeping the focus on authenticity, diversity, health at every size, and permission to move (or not) exactly as you please.
Outside of Sultivate™
When I’m not dancing, I’m hiking desert trails, volunteering in the foster system, or interviewing amazing guests for my labor-of-love podcast, The Deeper Pulse. (I’ve also been told that I bake a pretty killer chocolate-pecan pie. ;)
